"How do I find the time to add one more thing into my life?" 
says most meditators at one time or another.
Many people approach meditation because their life is hectic and that causes stress. 

They want to cope with the stress,
so they commit to a meditation practice,
and then they can't fit it in and
they feel disappointed and guilty and
feel like a failure at one more thing.

Time crunch usually arises from one or both of these conflicts.   
Conflicts with other people's expectations.
Conflicts with our other commitments.
There will be flight delays, but there are ​

Skillful Solutions

What is your "WHY"?
  • Why have you decided to start, or restart, a practice of meditation?  Write it down. 
  • Share it with someone else. 
  • Place it where you can see it on a regular basis, especially where you can see it when the time crunch typically shows up.

  • You have probably heard from someone, somewhere that hours of meditation is what is needed. 
  • You may have had an extensive practice in the past and long for long meditation sessions.
  • "Longing for the long" hurts.
But
  • Starting with 3 minutes of meditation is much better than "longing for longer" meditations.
  • There are many 3 minute or slightly longer guided meditations in the Library for Members.  
  • If you increase your meditation time later, that's great.
But
  • If you don't increase any time soon, a short meditation today is better than no meditation today.
And
  • TODAY is what counts.

Community
  • We are much more likely to follow though on plans when we are doing something along side others. 
  • If you have someone in your household, or immediate physical community who is interested in starting or reviving a meditation practice, invite them into YWM so that you can work together,
  • Maybe even attend the live sessions together ​from the same screen.
  • Even if you do not have someone in your own environment, we have designed YWM to be a Community of Wondrous Minds to support one another in this journey.
  • Share your questions, your successes, your frustrations and confusions, and be committed to being there to support the others in the Community.
  • Community happens during the interactive part of the live sessions as well at in the Community Forums

Routine
  • Consistency is much more important than the length of time. 
  • A short amount of time each day is much better than an occasional longer period of meditation. 
And
  • An occasional longer period is not likely to happen very often, and quickly dwindles to "never".
  • The best way to make sure you get a short amount of time in each day is to develop a routine.  This includes "Schedule" covered below, but also includes so much more.

Schedule
  • Make an appointment with yourself.
  • If you keep appointments in a book,  or on a phone or other device, write it down.
  • Treat yourself with respect and keep that appointment when at all possible.
  • Schedule it for a time that you think will work.
  • If it doesn't, try to shift things around to make it work.
  • If it still doesn't try a different time.​
