What to do with your hands during meditation?

If your hands fall naturally into a comfortable position,
you may choose to stick with that.
Many find it comfortable while sitting to let one hand
rest on each thigh or knee,
whichever supports the erect posture previously described.
Others find that placing their hands in a
symbolically meaningful position
supports their meditation well.
Hands can be held in a “praying” position.
They may be held together to form a cup,
in expectation of “receiving”.
They may be held open and palms down, in rest,
supporting the idea of setting aside any
“doing” or “work” for this period.
They may be held together
supporting the idea of an inward focus,
or held apart, supporting connection with others.
